To mark the upcoming intake of the Supervision programme, we spoke with Laurent Goldstein, Academic Director of the Professional Coach and Supervision programmes at ICN Business School, about the importance of continuous innovation and professional renewal for coaches throughout their careers.

Laurent, what is the Supervision and Management Practice Review programme about?

This programme is designed to support senior leaders, managers, coaches and consultants in enhancing their professional practice. It provides a dedicated space for discussion and reflection, enabling participants to step back from their day-to-day responsibilities, reflect on their professional approach, share experiences and benefit from the expert guidance of a supervisor as well as the insights of their peers.

Why is supervision important for professionals?

In leadership, management and coaching roles, we are often faced with complex decisions and demanding human interactions. Supervision helps professionals ask the right questions, broaden their perspective and avoid professional isolation. It also enables them to identify new strategies and refine their skills through shared experience and reflective practice.

How does a typical session work?

The programme takes place over five days spread throughout the year, with small groups of 8 to 12 participants. Each session is based on a collaborative approach:

  • We analyse real-life cases brought forward by participants.
  • We explore different perspectives to identify solutions and deepen collective reflection.
  • We use a structured methodology that encourages collaboration, group dynamics and collective intelligence.

The aim is to provide a supportive and structured environment where participants can develop their professional practice with confidence and effectiveness.

Who is this programme designed for?

The programme is open to senior leaders, managers, HR professionals, coaches and consultants ; anyone who supports teams or individuals and wants to strengthen their professional practice, leadership approach and impact.

What are the main benefits of supervision for participants?

Feedback is consistently positive. Participants gain greater clarity in their decision-making, benefit from mutual learning through peer exchange and, above all, strengthen their practice within a solid ethical and professional framework. As one participant put it: “You receive just as much as you give to others—it is an incredibly rewarding experience.”
