Biography

The academic and professional career of Janine Jacquet has always followed the path of interdisciplinarity. As a student in the first promotion of Erasmus in 1987, she was welcomed to a German University, where students were studying both economics and law. She continued in this same transdisciplinary perspective at the University of Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne where she prepared one of the first French Masters in Environmental Economics under the direction of René Passet, a specialist in transdisciplinary approaches.
Interested in the origins of economics, she chose to focus her PhD in the History of Economic Theory, under the supervision of Daniel Diatkine, on the relationship between Economics and History in the 18th century Scotland. Subsequently, she wanted to explore the legal field in more depth. In 2012, she obtained a Master’s degree in Labour Law at the University of Lorraine.
Convinced that building bridges between different disciplines is essential in managerial training, she has translated this conviction into her professional experience. She taught for a long time in a school of applied arts where economic, legal and artistic dimensions were closely associated. At ICN, where she has been teaching since 2004, she perpetuated this approach not only within the department characterized by interdisciplinarity but also within the ARTEM project. She is involved in projects that combine economics, law, finance and CSR or economics and art
After a period devoted to academic research in the field of the history of economic thought, she wanted to focus more on the business world. Indeed her teaching in business school had to be more in line with the requirements of managerial training. Her interests have led her to focus today on two topics through case studies. The first axis has to be related to her dual training in Economics and labour law. As part of a multidisciplinary team, she was interested in the conditions for closing a local company, a subsidiary of an international group. This reflection continued in the field of alternative forms of enterprise such as SCOP. The second axis, which is more to be linked to ARTEM, concerns innovation, in particular its environment and financing conditions. She approachs this theme either through large groups or within start-ups. She is also currently working on start-ups in the cultural field.
